Aliyah

ALIYAH

Aliyah is a chin-up kind of girl. No matter what the world throws at her, she tries her best to keep a positive attitude. “Aliyah maintains a sense of humor despite any hardships she may face,” says her worker. Aliyah likes interacting with others and enjoys sharing a laugh with her friends. Even though Aliyah likes spending time outside, she enjoys being inside more. She enjoys relaxing by watching TV. “She likes watching a variety of movies,” Aliyah’s worker says. Aliyah says she likes scary movies, funny flicks and musicals, especially “Hairspray.” Another favorite indoor activity is reading, which she enjoys doing on the weekends. Aliyah’s other favorite things include Doritos and ice cream, the colors orange and black, and dolphins. If she could visit anywhere in the world, Aliyah would travel to South Dakota and North Carolina. “I would like to travel,” she says, “and I have never been to those places and would like to go on a vacation there.” With her future forever family, she wants to watch TV, go to the movies and go out to dinner together. Most of all, she looks forward to having “lazy days with them.”

Aliyah can struggle at times with behavior “but has vastly improved and continues to want to do better,” her worker says. She would benefit from help in developing and maintaining peer relationships. In school, Aliyah receives support to help her function at her best and generally does well.

Aliyah would do best with a single-female parent or a mom and dad who have experience raising children. Aliyah also would do best as the only or youngest child in her new forever family. Her new family must be strong advocates for the services that will help Aliyah at home and in school. Aliyah also will need patience and understanding as well as positive reinforcement. The family also must be willing to let Aliyah maintain her sibling relationships.
