When Damareo enters a room, an orchestra could surely strike up a smooth jazzy tune. After all, this cool young man is mighty refined. “He enjoys the finer things that life has to offer,” says Damareo’s worker. Even though he might have some smooth moves for the dance floor, Damareo has experienced a bumpy ride leading up to where he is as a young man. Still, he’s an outgoing and charming boy who enjoys sports and video games. He also likes looking his finest. “He takes pride in his appearance and tries hard to always look his best,” says Damareo’s worker. Although Damareo isn’t sure of his career aspirations, he knows that he wants a family in his future. When he’s asked about the qualities that he wants in a future forever family, Damareo says he wants one who will stand by him and stay committed no matter what happens.

Due to his past experiences, Damareo can have difficulty in his interactions with adults and will need a family who is patient as he builds a bond with them. He sometimes struggles behaviorally and could benefit from guidance in helping him be the “charming and outgoing young man” that his worker says he is most of the time. In school, Damareo benefits from receiving assistance to function at his best.

Damareo would do best with two parents, but a single parent who can give him the attention he needs to thrive could be a possibility. His new parents would benefit from knowledge of the impact of trauma on a child’s behavior and development. They also must be strong advocates for the services that will help Damareo function as his best at home and in school.
