Gabby, as Gabrielle prefers, doesn’t want to look back, and instead she strives to make her future a bright one. “Gabby is a strong, resilient young lady,” her worker says. The worker adds that Gabby is a “very outgoing individual” who is “very honest” and “not afraid to speak her mind.” Gabby calls herself a “fun kid.” And why not? Gabby loves playing, especially sports. Her favorite is volleyball, but basketball ranks a close second. “She is very passionate about her interests,” Gabby’s worker says. “She enjoys music, reading, writing and coloring (her favorite colors are pink, purple, teal and black). Gabby likes to show off her poems and journal entries.” If Gabby had three wishes, she’d want family, home and happiness, and if she could visit anywhere in the world, she’d travel to England. “It is beautiful, and I have friends there,” she says. On her list of favorite things, Gabby includes ribs for food, Xbox for toy and Alaskan huskies for animal. When she gets older, Gabby wants to become a social worker, DJ or business owner.

Gabby receives services to help her manage her feelings. Her worker says Gabby “can verbalize appropriate goals and wants to make improvements on her behavior. She has a great sense of humor and can be a total joy to be around.” In school, Gabby does pretty well in the classroom and receives good grades.

Gabby will need an adoptive family who is understanding and patient with her transition. She would do best with an experienced parent or parents who are trauma informed. Her new adoptive family must be strong advocates for the services that will help Gabby excel at home. Since she is quite athletic, Gabby would benefit from a family who supports and encourages her participation in sports as well as clubs.
