Markia

Markia has various interests that, like most teens, include listening to music and watching movies . She likes jumping rope and dancing and has enjoyed learning yoga as well as participating in gymnastics. She talks about wanting to try horseback riding and joining a cheerleading squad. Markia loves to draw and has created a lot of characters that she then puts into story lines with her teacher at school. She can express her feelings through drawing and talking to others. While being a teenager, she is still a kid at heart and enjoys playing with Barbie dolls. Markia loves dogs and hopes to have at least one dog in her adoptive family.

Markia responds well to one-on-one time and enjoys positive attention. She has had limited opportunity to find her own interests and is willing to try new things that others like in order to connect to them. Markia has done very well in her school and is well-liked by her teachers. She also has a team of adults supporting her who would help with the
transition to a new family.

Markia needs a family who is able to provide structure in a nurturing and calm way. She does well with positive role models around her. A family will need to be able to parent without taking things personally. Like most teenagers, Markia will need a family to help her focus on positive things and continue to build self-confidence.
